Rockstar published mod guidelines on September 10. Their restrictions matter to anyone creating, sharing or linking to Grand Theft Auto modifications.
Story and cross-game projects
The guidelines ask creators not to extend or alter Rockstar's established plots, missions and characters, or transplant maps, characters and game assets between Rockstar titles. That creates particular concerns for projects that recreate scenes with extracted dialogue or move official models into another game. This is the publisher's stated policy, not a court ruling about each project.
Multiplayer, logos and third-party rights
Rockstar limits multiplayer modding to its licensed Creator Platform or other direct licenses, and opposes tools that disrupt official online services. It also prohibits presenting a community project as endorsed by Rockstar. Independently, other creators' images, music, source files and mod packages require their own permission before reuse.
What this means for readers
Linking to an original creator's listing is different from uploading their archive or copying screenshots. Our article pages will use independently created editorial artwork and link to source pages, without bundling game assets. That reduces avoidable exposure but does not guarantee that a rights holder will never challenge a use.
